Our unique topography is part of the “Driftless Area,” a region left untouched by glaciers during the last Ice Age. While glaciers flattened much of the Midwest, this area preserved its dramatic bluffs, deep valleys, and rugged terrain, all carved by ancient rivers over millions of years. So, while we know it’s technically not a mountain, Sundown’s steep hills and valley make it feel like one to us—and perfect for winter adventure right here in Iowa.
