Ski & Board Lessons

Learning to ski or ride is one of the quickest and most rewarding experiences you will ever have and you can enjoy winter for a lifetime. Our 120-instructor team is the largest in the region. Two have been nationally recognized. Over 25 years we have developed a very special station teaching program that is easy, safe and fun. We use shorter shaped equipment, 1-1/2 hour lessons (50% longer than most areas) and each person can advance through 8 graduated slope stations at their own comfort level with conveyor and chairlift service.

Most first time skiers discover they can safely go down our 6 easiest trails and return with a big smile up the highest vertical chairlift in the region before the lesson is over. Click on action video tour to view the lesson. It will boost your progress.

Advanced Lessons

Once you have mastered the beginner lesson, you can take an advanced lesson to graduate from wedge or snowplow turns to parallel turns and beyond, at the same group price.

Learn to Ski/Board - FREE - December 4 - 24, 2009 and January 4-31, 2010

Experience the thrill of skiing/boarding for the first time at no charge! (lesson and rental included) The lesson takes place on our Beginner Hill which has both a chairlift and a conveyor lift where each person can advance at their own level.

BEGINNER SPECIAL - A GREAT WAY TO START!

This inexpensive program provides (age 9 or over) with a lift ticket, rental equipment and a 1-1/2 hour lesson on the Beginner Slope with an option to upgrade to an all area lift ticket for an additional $20 after 1 pm (when they can ski or ride a 20% grade under control).

Group Lessons

(must be 9 years of age or older - Kids Park lessons are available for children 4-11).

Private Lessons

Private Lessons are 1 hour long and start at the customers convenience. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling Sundown at 563-556-6676 (extension 112). When purchasing your Lift Ticket let the cashier know you either have a reservation or would like to take a private lesson.

5 WEEK LEARN-TO-SKI OR RIDE PROGRAMS

This very affordable program is for anyone age 9 or older at any ability level. The sessions are 1-1/2 hours long and are held once a week on the same day for 5 consecutive weeks. You can pick up your lift tickets and rentals (if needed) at the Group Office in the Mountaintop building after 4 pm.

REGISTRATIONS ARE ACCEPTED ON A FIRST COME BASIS. Class sizes will be limited. We reserve the right to cancel two days prior to the start of the program due to the lack of participation. Reservations and payment must be made at least one week prior to the start of the program.

3 WEEK LEARN-TO-SKI OR RIDE PROGRAMS

KIDS PARK 3 & 5 WEEK LEARN-TO-SKI OR SNOWBOARD PROGRAM

Especially designed for children 4 to11 years of age. Classes are small and give attention to each child's individual needs. SKIwee Kids Park instructors will meet with parent(s) and child before each session to answer any questions. If all lessons are attended - students receive a free night of skiing or boarding with rental. And that isn't all - students also receive a complimentary membership in the Sundown Mountain Kid's Club which will allow them to ski or board on Sundays or Thursdays after 1 p.m. with a reduced cost for lift ticket and rental. ADAPTIVE SKIING PROGRAM

"Sundown has programs for the blind and physically challenged. We offer a variety of specialized equipment along with lessons tailored to the needs of the skier. Our goal is to help the skier achieve the greatest independence and adventure that adaptive skiing has to offer."

Friends and family are encouraged to participate. Our instructors will gladly assist anyone familiar with adaptive equipment, the philosophy and approach to the program.
